COVID-19 Recovery
Dr. Beverly Tambe’s Story
As COVID-19 began to spread across the US, the frontline workers like Beverly, Anna, and Ana put the welfare of their patients above their own. On September 1, there were 1,074 coronavirus deaths reported in the US, far down from a high of 3,153 on April 14, and it’s thanks to the selfless work of those in hospitals that the country continues on the path to recovery.
The spread of COVID-19 in the US was rapid, with the daily case number hitting its peak of 76,682 cases in a single day on July 29th. Since then, the daily new caseload has decreased, giving relief to the US healthcare system.
As daily coronavirus numbers have decreased, so have the effects on the US economy. Specifically, new jobless claims have fallen from a high of 6.9 million the week of March 28 to 860,000 the week of September 12 with more room for improvement as the country continues to grapple with the global pandemic.
