USAFacts Group LLC ("USAFacts" or “we”) is committed to protecting the privacy of visitors to the usafacts.org website (this "Site"). USAFacts is also committed to protecting the privacy and security of all personal information it receives through use of this Site.
The purpose of this Privacy Policy (this “Policy”) is to describe the types of personal information that USAFacts may receive through your use of this Site and how USAFacts may use the information.
This Policy is an integral part of the Terms & Conditions under which you may use this Site. Your use of this Site constitutes your agreement with this Policy, as well as the other Terms & Conditions. This Policy describes USAFacts’ practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting and disclosing such information.
This Policy does not apply to information collected by any third party, including through any application or content (including advertising) that may link to or be accessible from or through the Website. This Site may contain integrations or links to third party websites or services, including those of our business partners. By interacting with these third parties, you are providing information directly to the third party and not USAFacts. Please note that USAFacts is not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties or any entity that it does not own or control. We encourage you to review the privacy notices and online terms of those third parties to learn more about how they handle your personal information.
The term “personal information” is information that identifies, relates to, describes, or is capable of being associated or linked with a natural person. It includes, but is not limited to, the term “personal information” as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”).
The terms “you” or “your” include you and your legally authorized representative.
The following categories of personal information may be collected from visitors to the Site:
The Site offers a feature that allows a user to submit their geolocation when searching Site data. The purpose of collecting user geolocation data is to allow a user to tailor search results to a specified distance from their location. The feature uses functionality built within the user’s web browser to obtain device location, which may be supplied by on-device GPS technology. When a user encounters this feature, they will be prompted via their browser to allow permission to their location. Location data will only be supplied if the user affirmatively indicates “yes” or “allow” in response to the prompt. Because GPS technology supplies latitude and longitude coordinates, the geolocation data obtained can be precise. The geolocation data is stored in a cookie on the user’s device, which expires and is deleted within 24 hours. User-submitted geolocation data is only collected with explicit opt-in consent. It is not used for any other purpose than facilitating user search results on the Site and it is not shared with any third party.
In order to become a USAFacts newsletter subscriber (a "Subscriber"), USAFacts requires that visitors to this Site fill out a form requesting the following information:
USAFacts uses the information users submit on the newsletter subscription form for the following purposes:
If you do not want USAFacts to use the information you submit on the newsletter subscription form in these ways, please send an email to [email protected]. You may also adjust your user preferences in your account profile or unsubscribe from the USAFacts newsletter by selecting the appropriate option in a USAFacts newsletter email sent to your email address. USAFacts does not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise transfer information you submit to USAFacts on the newsletter subscription form or in response to a USAFacts newsletter email to any third party.
USAFacts uses reports from Google Analytics Solutions to help it analyze how visitors use this Site. Google Analytics Solutions uses cookies, which are small text files stored within the browser of a Site user and which collect pseudonymous Site use information. No directly identifiable personal information is collected about you through such cookies. USAFacts may use these technologies to collect de-identified information about your online activities over time and across third-party websites or other online services (“behavioral tracking”).
Pseudonymous aggregated data about use of this Site is collected from cookies and transmitted to Google Analytics Solutions, not to USAFacts. Google Analytics Solutions then compiles this pseudonymous aggregated data into statistical reports on user activity of this Site such as the source of traffic to the Site (e.g., search engines, links on other websites, etc.), the number and duration of visits to different pages on this Site, the number of downloads from this Site, and the geographic location of Site users. The Google Analytics Solutions reports are then transmitted to USAFacts, which uses the reports to evaluate how this Site is used by visitors so that USAFacts can better understand the interests of Site users and make improvements to this Site.
Some content or applications on the Site are served by third parties, including content providers and application providers. USAFacts does not control these third parties' tracking technologies or how they may be used. Third parties may use cookies to collect information about you when you use the Site. The information they collect may be associated with your personal information or they may collect information, including personal information, about your online activities over time and across different websites and other online services. They may use this information to provide you with interest-based (behavioral) advertising or other targeted content.
For further information about how Google Analytics Solutions collects and processes data, see https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners/.
You may block cookies from transmitting anonymous information to Google Analytics Solutions by activating the appropriate settings on your browser. Unless you have adjusted your browser settings so that cookies are blocked, Google Analytics Solutions will receive information from cookies on your computer when you direct your browser to this Site.
USAFacts may also receive information about you that you voluntarily email to USAFacts. USAFacts does not sell, trade, rent or otherwise transfer information you submit to USAFacts about you by email to any third party.
USAFacts may disclose the Google Analytics Solutions reports it receives showing aggregated anonymous data about this Site’s visitors without restriction.

USAFacts does not disclose or share any sensitive personal information with any third party unless authorized by law.
USAFacts has implemented measures designed to secure personal information emailed to it or received through its newsletter subscription forms from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration and disclosure. All of USAFacts’ data and the Site are cloud-based (Microsoft Azure).
Unfortunately, transmission of information over the internet is not completely secure. Although USAFacts does its best to protect personal information given to it, USAFacts cannot guarantee the security of such information transmitted to USAFacts through the newsletter subscription forms or by email. Any transmission of personal information to USAFacts is at the risk of the party transmitting such information. USAFacts is not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on this Site.

If you believe your child may have disclosed personal information to USAFacts, please send an email to [email protected].
When you interact with the Site, you may be afforded legal rights with respect to personal information depending on the jurisdiction in which you reside. These rights may include rights to the following:
The exact scope of these rights may vary by jurisdiction, and you should check with your local jurisdiction to determine if your state provides additional rights in relation to the personal information that we have collected. USAFacts will comply with lawful requests to exercise data privacy rights and make reasonable efforts to accommodate the aforementioned rights, even when not legally required. Please see “How to Exercise Your Data Privacy Rights” below for more information.
The CCPA provides California consumers with specific rights regarding their personal information including rights to the following:
You have the right to know what personal information USAFacts collects about you. Once USAFacts receives your request and verifies your identity (as described below), USAFacts will disclose to you:
You have the right to request that USAFacts delete personal information that we have collected from you and retained, subject to certain exceptions. Once USAFacts receives your request and verifies your identity, we will review the request to see if an exception applies that allows us to retain some or all your information. USAFacts may deny your deletion request if any exceptions apply.
You have the right to correct inaccurate personal information that USAFacts maintains about you. In some cases, USAFacts may ask that you provide additional documentation to support your request. Once USAFacts receives your request and verifies your identity, we may deny your request to correct personal information if USAFacts believes that the personal information that we maintain is more likely than not accurate based upon the totality of the circumstances.
USAFacts does not sell your personal information. You may request that USAFacts stop sharing your personal information unless a legal exception applies.
In some cases, you have the right to limit use of your sensitive personal information such as precise geolocation information, which is considered sensitive personal information under the CCPA.
You have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising any of your CCPA rights.
To exercise a data privacy rights request, please email USAFacts at [email protected] with the subject line “Data Subject Rights Request” and include a description of the specific nature of your request.
If submitting a request pursuant to rights to access, limit, correct, or delete personal information, USAFacts will only use personal information provided in a consumer request to verify the request. USAFacts will not further disclose the personal information and will retain it only as necessary for the purpose of verification and to meet USAFacts’ legal obligations. USAFacts cannot fulfill your request if they cannot verify your identity or authority to make the request and confirm the personal information that is the subject of the request relates to you.
You may also opt out of sharing personal information on our Site by submitting a request as described in “Submitting a request” above or by setting an opt-out preference signal. To process your request through an opt-out preference signal, you must use a browser supporting the preference signal. If you choose to use an opt-out preference signal, USAFacts will opt you out of sales and sharing in the context of cookies and tracking technologies from the browser for which you have the opt-out preference signal enabled.
You may limit USAFacts’ use of sensitive personal information by contacting USAFacts by email in the manner specified in “Submitting a request” above.
Only you or someone legally authorized to act on your behalf may make a request under the CCPA. You may also make a verifiable consumer request on behalf of your minor child.
Before fulfilling your request, USAFacts takes steps to verify you are who you say you are or whether you have the authority to act upon someone else’s behalf. One way USAFacts verifies you is through your account. If you do not provide your email address, USAFacts may request additional information needed to verify you.
When USAFacts contacts you to request verification information, please respond and provide the information requested. Depending on the nature of the request you make, USAFacts may require you to verify your identity to either a "reasonable degree of certainty" or "high degree of certainty". This means that USAFacts need to match two or three pieces of information that USAFacts hold about you with information that you provide to us. In addition, USAFacts may ask for knowledge-based qualifiers during the verification process.
In some cases, USAFacts may require you to sign a declaration under penalty of perjury that you are the consumer whose personal information is the subject of the request or that you are authorized to make the request on behalf of someone else.
In addition to providing the information USAFacts need to verify you or your authority, you must provide us with enough information so that we can understand, evaluate, and respond to your request. USAFacts cannot respond to your request or provide you with personal information if we cannot confirm the personal information relates to you.
USAFacts will only use personal information provided in the request to verify the requestor's identity or authority to make it.
