We turn public data into public knowledge

USAFacts exists to make government data easier to access and understand. We don’t tell you what to think. We give you what you need to make informed decisions.

Where the data comes from

We stick to government data because it’s collected across administrations, and a lot of it isn’t accessible for people who don’t spend their days exploring Census microdata — but we do.

Built from a need for answers

When former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer retired, he wanted to know how the government spends our tax dollars. What he found was a lot of noise and little clarity. So, in 2017, he built USAFacts: a not-for-profit resource rooted in publicly available data, free from spin or politics.
