I was raised in a family and community where responsible gun ownership was the norm. I was taught respect for firearms and proper gun safety from a young age. As a result, I believe very strongly in the rights protected by the 2nd Amendment. For me, 2A represents a codification of the natural right to self-defense. Put simply everyone human has the right to defend their person and property against those that would harm either, no matter what tool you choose to use.
American healthcare is in shambles. It costs too much and does not adequately reach or serve the American people. Conventional political wisdom would suggest that more government intervention is the answer, but that completely neglects the fact that it is government intervention that has largely created the problems we now face. Various middle-men have invaded the doctor/patient relationship such that the two persons involved in the direct exchange of goods and services, in this case medical care, have no idea what the service is worth, what is fair, and what options actually exist. Restoring competition to healthcare would do much to reduce costs, create more transparency, improve quality, and expand access.
