The A-3 visa is designated for personal employees, attendants, or domestic workers of diplomats and government officials who hold A-1 or A-2 visas. This visa allows these individuals to accompany or join their employers in the United States.

The length of stay for an A-3 visa is generally tied to the duration of the principal visa holder's status, with a maximum period of three years. Extensions may be granted as long as the principal visa holder maintains their status and the A-3 visa holder continues to meet the visa requirements.

The State Department does not maintain a cap on A-3 visas.
