The smoking rate for the US adult population comes from the Behavioral Risk Factors Surveillance System, built by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It includes all adults who currently smoke cigarettes either every day or some days.
In 2021, 11.1% of adults in the US smoked, a decrease of 1 percentage point from 2020.
