Housing discrimination complaints filed under the Fair Housing Act

Housing discrimination complaints filed under the Fair Housing Act

These reflect all complaints filed under the Fair Housing Act with either the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) or through a HUD-funded state or local agency. Complaints often allege multiple bases of discrimination, meaning that the same complaint can be counted multiple times when categorized by cause. Because of this, complaints by category of discrimination will sum to more than the total number of complaints.

There were 7,543 housing discrimination complaints filed under the Fair Housing Act in 2021, an increase of 25.7% or 1,545 complaints filed from 2020.
